Premier League side Everton are slated to take on Peterborough in their third-round matchup in the FA Cup on Thursday with the prospect of a family reunion on the cards as Englishman Ashley Young could stand to take the field against his son Tyler if the stars align.
“If there was a possibility that we were able to play with each other or play against each other, it tops everything I’ve done in my career,” Ashley said.
“Hopefully, come game day we’re able to get on the same pitch,” Young added.
“I’ve said it since the draw came out – it would be a goosebumps moment for me,” the 39-year-old stated.
“I have to say it’ll be a massive moment for Tyler as well,” he continued.
“He’s just starting out in his career, so for him to be able to showcase his talents in a fantastic stadium in front of a sell-out crowd – the most fans he will have played in front of – would be fantastic,” Young added.

Tyler, however, reiterated that he would not go easy on his father if they were to line up against one another in the third-round FA Cup clash.
“I wouldn’t even think about him being my dad,” Tyler said.
“He’s just another opponent on the pitch who I can try to beat,” he added.
Young, the 39-year-old former England international played for Manchester United in an eight-year stint between 2011 and 2020, before seeking pastures anew in Italy with Serie A giants Inter Milan.
He returned to Aston Villa, the club he played for between 2007 and 2011 ahead of his switch to Man United, in the year 2021 for a couple of seasons before making the move to Everton in 2023.
