A teenage girl has drowned after being pulled from a river near a camping ground.
The body of the 12-year-old girl was discovered in the Broken River near Benalla, in Victoria’s north-west, around 10am on Saturday.
Emergency services including an air ambulance that left Bendigo Hospital were called to the scene, but sadly the girl later died.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman confirmed paramedics were called to the scene following reports of an incident in the water.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia the girl’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
