Tragic end to desperate search for missing teenage girl on the Gold Coast

A body has been recovered during an extensive search and rescue mission for a missing 17-year-old girl on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

The teenage girl, who has a medical condition, was last seen on Bayberry Lane in Robina, at about 8.30am on Tuesday.

Her worried family reported her missing to police, who searched an area in Carrara, about 10 minutes from where she was last seen.

‘A land search and rescue is underway in the Carrara area with assistance from SES crews and members of the public,’ police said on Wednesday morning.

‘A command post has been set up at the AFL ground along Nielsens Road, Carrara.

‘Any members of the public who want to assist with search efforts are requested to meet there.’

The teenager was earlier described as Caucasian, approximately 178cm tall, with blonde hair and green eyes.

Both her family and police said they were concerned for her welfare due to a medical condition.
