Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush has reportedly agreed in principle to join Manchester City with an agreement pending between the reigning Premier League champions and Eintracht Frankfurt. Sky Sports reported that the German side is demanding around £67 million (€80 million) for Marmoush with the negotiations expected to be initiated this week. The Sun claimed that the 25-year-old has already given “the thumbs up” to his potential move to Manchester City. The English giants and Marmoush’s entourage are reportedly considering a transfer fee of £42 million- £50 million (€50 million-€60 million). Manchester City will be eager to sign Marmoush as it can offer some assistance to Erling Haaland in the attacking unit. At Manchester City, Marmoush is expected to fill in the void created by Argentine World Cup winner Julian Alvarez’s departure. Alvarez had left Manchester City to sign for Spanish side Atletico Madrid for £81 million in August 2024.

Omar Marmoush has been in fine form in recent times netting 13 goals so far in this season’s Bundesliga. Only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (14 goals) remains ahead of Marmoush in terms of number of goals scored till now in the Bundesliga this season. Marmoush, who is flexible in playing in any of the three positions in the attacking department, has scored 18 goals across all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt this season.

Manchester City had to endure a torrid outing this season. In the Premier League, they have had to concede six defeats so far. They had even had to deal with a seven-match winless streak across all competitions this season. Pep Guardiola’s men now find themselves in the sixth spot in the Premier League standings. They have collected 34 points from 20 matches in the competition.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola recently talked about signing a two-year contract extension with the club, despite the side facing on-field difficulties. Guardiola said, as per ESPN, “Absolutely not,” when asked about regrets over his commitment to Manchester City.

“I would not be able to sleep — even worse than now — if I thought I was leaving when the club is in this situation. Impossible. They might sack me, that could happen. But leaving now, in this position? No chance,” Pep Guardiola added.

Manchester City will next face Salford City FC in the FA Cup on Saturday, January 11. In the Premier League, Manchester City will return to action with a game against Brentford scheduled to be played on January 15.
