Tren de Aragua gangsters who took over Colorado apartment complex are arrested in early-morning NYC raid

Two Tren de Aragua gangsters tied to a shocking apartment building takeover in Aurora, Colorado were arrested in New York City in an early-morning raid. 

Danyeer Aramillo-Meneses, 23, and Edilson Yoel Pena-Angulo, 25, were taken into custody Wednesday alongside 13 other men suspected of having ties to the infamous Venezuelan gang. 

The raid at an apartment in the Bronx was part of a probe into a narcotics, weapons and credit card scam operation the men were allegedly running, and turned up a cache of assault rifles. 

It was carried out by a task force led by the NYPD and US Homeland Security in a sting operation that lasted months, sources told the New York Post. 

A law enforcement officer told the outlet: ‘Enough already with these guys. [Tren de Aragua’s] Time is up.’ 

Meneses and Angulo were allegedly part of a gang that terrorized a Colorado apartment complex earlier this year. 

The episode caught national attention after footage captured gang members burglarizing the apartment in a brazen broad-daylight attack. 

It is unclear when Meneses and Angulo travelled from Colorado to New York City, and they reportedly had warrants out for their arrests in Colorado on October 1.

Sources told the Post that narcotics detectives were investigating a drugs ring in the Big Apple for over six months and found the Tren de Aragua operation ran from the Bronx apartment to lower Manhattan. 

They allegedly peddled a number of drugs including heroin and synthetic marijuana, and were also involved in credit card fraud. 

Multiple firearms were found in the apartment, sources said, including three assault rifles, two pistols and ammo cans. 

Charges against the men snared in Wednesday’s raid are unclear as their cases have reportedly been sealed.

The Aurora Police Department said on social media that their arrest warrants were signed by a judge related to a shooting on August 18. 

Through a task force dubbed Operation Save Haven, cops have identified five of the six men involved in the shooting, however only one, Naudi Lopez-Fernandez, 21, is in custody. 

The department said in a statement: ‘Operation Safe Haven investigators are actively searching for all outstanding suspects with the assistance of local, state and federal law enforcement partners. 

‘Investigators also are working to positively identify the last remaining suspect in anticipation that a warrant for his arrest will be written and submitted to the courts in the future.’ 

Footage captured the moment the gang seized control of the building in August, where heavily-armed mob were seen storming through the residence brandishing guns.

In the video, a man in a hoodie lugs a high-powered rifle and pounds on a door in the building, while several others wield pistols.
