A mother and her daughter have died in a road crash, police confirmed last night.
Six-year-old Arianna Aliu died at the scene, while her mother, Rebecca Hill, 32, died later in hospital.
Last night, officers appealed for witnesses to the single car crash. It happened on the A76 between Mauchline and Auchinleck, Ayrshire, around 5pm on Tuesday.
The pair were travelling in a white VW Passat when the accident occurred, close to the B713 Catrine junction.
It is understood Ms Hill was a part-time nursery teacher at the Onthank Early Childhood Centre, in Kilmarnock.

The horror crash happened on the A76 between Mauchline and Auchinleck, Ayrshire on Tuesday
Inspector Kenny Malaney said: ‘Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic incident at this extremely difficult time.
‘We would like to thank the members of the public that stopped to help and made the call to the emergency services.
‘Extensive inquiries are ongoing to establish what has happened and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash, or may have been in the area at the time, to contact us.
‘I am also keen to speak to anyone who have may dashcam footage showing the Passat prior to the crash.’
The road was closed for around seven hours to allow investigations to take place.
A tribute on social media said: ‘This is so very sad, fly high beautiful little angel, you were taken far too soon, thinking of the family at this awful time.’
Another added: ‘How awful and so unfair for the 2 beautiful angels who lost their lives. Absolutely heartbreaking.
‘Thinking of all their family, friends and the emergency services involved.’
Last week, a 42-year-old man was killed in a crash close to the same spot after the car he was driving hit a tree.
Only eight hours later, biker Tony Currie, 34, died after crashing a Yamaha YZF-R6 on the A76.
