Trump calls himself the ‘father of fertilization’ in nod to IVF support as campaign hits overdrive in final days

Donald Trump called himself the ‘father of fertilization’ and bragged about his vigorous campaigning schedule in one of his final pleas to voters to give him a second term.

In front of thousands of supporters in the swing state of North Carolina, Trump tried to cut his rally short at 30 minutes but was encouraged by the crowd to finish off his third rally of the day in his type long-form style.

Trump claimed to be a staunch defender of access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) as Democrats say he wants to take away the treatment because some more radical pro-life views believe destroying fertilized embryos is a form of abortion.

‘Fertilization – I’m like the father – I consider myself to be the father of fertilization,’ the former president said during his rally in Greensboro just three days before the 2024 presidential election.

Previously, Trump had called himself the ‘father of IVF.’

Trump also held a rally in Gastonia, North Carolina and one in Salem, Virginia on Saturday before heading to Greensboro to finish off his last Saturday of campaign before the election.

Speaking at the First Horizon Coliseum on Saturday night, Trump said: ‘If I don’t win this thing after all this talk, I’m in trouble.’

He repeatedly urged those in the red-leaning swing state to vote if they hadn’t already.

‘I hope to hell you’re going to get your a**es out and vote,’ the former president said at one point.

After taking a ‘cheer-based’ poll on who already voted versus who is voting on Tuesday, Trump said: ‘I’m going to be voting on Tuesday, too.’

He also assured his voters that his vigorous campaigning schedule – of which he hasn’t taken a day off in 62 days – isn’t to pander for more money.

‘I didn’t come here looking for your money. I don’t want your money. All I want you to do is get out and vote,’ Trump told his supporters.

‘I was going to ask you, maybe I’ll do a very shortened version, and will everybody be happy with that?’ he asked.

But the crowd booed, making it clear they didn’t want Trump to cut his rally short.

‘I didn’t think so,’ the presidential hopeful playfully replied.

While Trump says he is confident that he is winning the election, he is worried that it will come down to the wire.

‘When you’re winning by a lot, you can still lose by a little,’ the ex-president claimed.
