US President Donald Trump had an odd interaction with a reporter that ended awkwardly during a press conference at Joint Base Andrews on Friday.
While addressing questions from reporters, a boom microphone’s fuzzy end, known as the “dead cat,” inadvertently made contact with President Trump’s mouth before brushing against the reporter’s face.
President Trump was departing from Joint Base Andrews in Washington D.C. when he took a moment to address reporters’ questions. As he delved into the sensitive topic of the Gaza hostage situation, a sudden and unexpected interruption occurred – a boom microphone swung into his face and shoulder, prompting a visibly irritated reaction
Instantly startled, Trump involuntarily leaned back and closed his eyes to miss whatever the thing might do to him.

In video production, microphones are often equipped with fuzzy covers made of synthetic fur, affectionately known as “dead cats” or “wind muffs.” These quirky accessories serve a practical purpose: they block wind from reaching the microphone, significantly reducing unwanted wind noise in recordings.
Far-right provocateur Laura Loomer slammed the press and posted on X, ““How on earth did a reporter get that boom mic so close to Trump’s face?” “This just doesn’t seem right. Security should tighten up. Embarrassing for the press.”
