Trump reveals the REAL reason he wore orange vest – as social media goes wild

Donald Trump provided hilarious insight into his campaign team’s decision to put him in a fluorescent orange vest at his rally in Wisconsin last night.

The 45th president rolled up to the event in a garbage truck after Joe Biden’s extraordinary gaffe the day before when he branded Trump supporters ‘garbage.’

Seizing on the moment in classic Trumpian style, the ex-president then decided to keep the orange vest on as he took to the stage in Green Bay.

He told the crowd that he had wanted to take the high visibility clothing off but his team advised that it would be better if he wore it for his speech.

‘I said “No way!” but they said it actually makes you look thinner,’ Trump joked. ‘And they got me – I said I wanna wear it on stage … I may never wear my blue jacket again. I may go in this.’

The crowd erupted in laughter and cheers at the rally and a clip of Trump’s comments quickly went viral.

One person tweeted: ‘We forget he is actually the funniest politician in the western world… by some margin.’

Another said: ‘It’s amazing how people hate this man. He’s so funny and legendary! He truly loves this country and her people!’

A third person wrote: ‘Anyone who hates this man is sad. He is a national treasure.’

Biden’s extraordinary gaffe on Tuesday has been immediately compared to Hillary Clinton’s infamous ‘deplorables’ label for Trump supporters in 2016.

The 81-year-old’s remark has undercut Harris’ pitch to work with those who disagree with her and move past the bitter divisions that define American politics.

Taking questions as he sat in the garbage truck, Trump said Biden ‘should be ashamed of himself’ and that Harris was guilty by association.

Trump supporters ‘are not garbage,’ the former president said.

Trump, meanwhile, distanced himself from the comedian at his Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday, Tony Hinchcliffe, who triggered a separate political firestorm by saying Puerto Rico is ‘a floating island of garbage.’

‘I don’t know who he is…I know nothing about him,’ said Trump, adding, ‘I love Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico loves me.’

On stage at the rally, Trump was joined by former Packers quarterback Brett Favre.

‘Thank you, Brett. What a great honor. What a great champion,’ Trump said shortly after taking the stage at the Resch Center. Describing Favre’s fingers as ‘like sausages,’ he said, ‘No wonder he could throw the ball.’

‘I’m a little upset because I think he got bigger applause than me, and I’m not happy,’ the former president went on, joking about the ovation Favre received in a county that Trump narrowly won in 2020.

Trump rallied alongside Favre in the critical battleground state with just six days until the election.

In a sign of the importance of the state, Kamala Harris, was campaigning simultaneously in overwhelmingly Democratic-voting Madison, 140 miles south.

Wisconsin is the tightest of the battleground states, with Harris leading by just 0.2 percentage points in an average of the top polls compiled by Real Clear Politics.

Trump has narrowed the gap considerably on the start of the month when that lead for Harris was 0.7 percentage points.

Favre, who won three NFL Most Valuable Player awards and a Super Bowl for Green Bay in the 1990s, praised Trump before the former president arrived, telling the crowd, ‘Much like the Packer organization, Donald Trump and his organization was a winner.’

‘The United States of America won with his leadership,’ Favre said.
