Trump reveals what everyday family items he’s ‘looking at’ for potential tariff exemptions: Live updates

President Donald Trump said he would ‘think about’ tariff exemptions for child-related products like car seats and diapers in order to bring the cost of them down.

Tariffs on China are hitting parents hard in their wallets.

Virtually every car seat, stroller, bassinet and changing table sold in the U.S. is made in China.

Trump has doubled Chinese tariffs, causing the prices of these items to increase.

‘I don’t know. I’ll think about it,’ Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when asked about exemptions for childcare products.

‘I want to make it nice and simple. I’m not looking to have so many exemptions that nobody knows what we’re doing. We have to make it very simple but I’ll take a look at it.’

President Trump has elaborated on his post to designate new ‘victory days’ celebrating victories in World War I and World War II.

He pointed to the planned Victory Day parade in Moscow to mark the 80 anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in World War II.

‘Russia’s having a big day tomorrow,’ Trump said. ‘And they were absolutely a major factor. But there was no major factor like us – we won the war,’ he said, referencing the millions of Russian troops who died on the Eastern Front.

“We’ll have two victory days, World War I and World War II. In the future we’re going to have a major celebration of each day. We’re not going to have days off because we don’t have enough days in the year. We have too many celebrations already.”

HIs comments came after Trump complained in a Truth Social post last week: ‘We won both Wars, nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything.

‘That’s because we don’t have leaders anymore, that know how to do so! We are going to start celebrating our victories again!.’

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt soon clarified that Trump was not renaming Veterans Day, which is how the U.S. currently honors Nov. 11, also known as Armistice Day. ‘We are not renaming Veteran’s Day,’ Leavitt told ABC News. ‘It will just be an additional proclamation that goes out on that day.’ It wasn’t until August 1945 that Japan surrendered.

President Trump has issued his most detailed comments on Kashmir after India struck inside Pakistan after terrorists killed 25 Hindu tourists there.

‘It’s so terrible. My position is I get along with both … and I want to see them work it out,’ Trump told reporters while swearing in the new U.S. ambassador to China David Perdue.

‘I want to see them stop,’ said Trump.

‘They’ve gone tit for tat, so hopefully they can stop now,’ Trump said.

In earlier comments Trump seemed to keep his distance from the long-simmering conflict. ‘They’ve had that fight for a thousand years in Kashmir,’ he said.

Americans can expect to hear from President Donald Trump this afternoon, but not his press mouthpiece.

The White House elected to open up Trump’s event swearing in former Sen. David Perdue as the U.S. ambassador to China. The event was set for just minutes before a scheduled briefing by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

‘Given the President’s press engagement in the Oval, the Press Briefing by the Press Secretary will take place on a later day,’ the White House said in a statement, even as a throng of reporters had gathered inside the White House briefing room.

Trump is set to get pressed on topics ranging from tariffs to Ukraine, along with the tense situation between India and Pakistan in Kashmir. Trump’s comments to date have been general in nature, in addition to mis-stating the time frame of the divide over the territory, which dates to partition in 1947.

‘They’ve had that fight for a thousand years in Kashmir,’ Trump said when asked about the recent terror attack there.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent clapped back at Rep. Nydia Velazquez, D-N.Y., when she pressed him on tariff negotiations.

‘Specifically, which countries are you close to striking deals with?’ the Democrat asked Bessent.

‘I am telling you that it would be detrimental to the interests of the United States for me to answer that question,’ he responded, not wanting to tip his hand in the dealmaking process.

‘I am sure that you, through your question, would not want to compromise U.S. negotiating positions, would you?’ Bessent continued.

Trump Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the arrest of over 200 alleged child sex predators.

They were detained in a joint operation by the Justice Department and FBI dubbed ‘Operation Restore Justice.’

A total of 115 children nationwide were rescued as part of the ‘historic’ investigation, Bondi, who announced the move with FBI Director Kash Patel, said.

These depraved human beings, if convicted, will face the maximum penalty in prison, some life.

We will find you. We will arrest you, and we will charge you. If you are online targeting a child, you will not escape us. The FBI and the Department of Justice will come after you. And we will prosecute you.

President Donald Trump may use military flights to deport migrants to Libya for the first time this week.

The flights could take off as soon as Wednesday, although the official schedule is still in flux, Reuters reported.

It was unclear how many migrants would be sent or which nationalities would qualify for removal to northern Africa.

The new front in Trump’s deportation war highlights the expansive purview of the White House’s efforts to send migrants in the U.S. to far-flung corners of the world.

The Pentagon declined to comment on the latest move. The Daily Mail has reached out to the White House and State Department for comment.

Millions of migrants from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe, in addition to those from South and Central America, poured across the U.S. southern border under Joe Biden.

Neocons are generally Republicans who advocate for U.S. intervention in global affairs, like the wars in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iraq and more.

Former President Joe Biden admitted he had a hard time bowing out of the 2024 presidential race after his agenda got going as he opened up about his difficult decision in his first broadcast interview since leaving office in January.

Biden, 82, conceded to BBC Radio 4’s Today program when asked why he didn’t end his campaign earlier: ‘I don’t think it would have mattered.’

After a disastrous debate against Donald Trump on June 27, Biden took less than a month to finally end his reelection bid on July 21, 2024.
