Tulisa Contostavlos ‘set to use I’m A Celebrity as launchpad for new solo career’ as N-Dubz singer becomes third star to touch down in Brisbane days before entering the jungle

Tulisa Contostavlos is reportedly pinning her hopes of relaunching her solo career on her upcoming appearance on  I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The singer, 36, became the third star to touch down in Australia, as she landed at Brisbane Airport on Sunday.

The pop star and her fellow celebrities will then be heading into the jungle for up to three weeks, where they will have to face off against numerous creepy critters and gruesome trials.

But according to reports, Tulisa is already thinking about what comes after she gets out, with the star planning to use her screentime wisely.

While she achieved huge success with N-Dubz – including the band’s comeback arena tour two years ago – Tulisa is said to now be hoping to give her solo career another go.

And according to The Sun, the former X Factor judge has already been hard at work writing new music and wants to use the publicity of I’m A Celebrity to as a ‘launchpad’.

A source told the publication: ‘Tulisa is a musician at heart and has been quietly working on new music. Being on I’m A Celebrity is the perfect way to reintroduce herself into public life and gives her a launch pad for new solo music.

‘Tulisa has worked on a new track called Stronger, which was registered officially last month. It’s a really powerful song about how she handled fame and fortune – and how difficult the world can be for women.

‘Tulisa wants to give something back to her fans who have been by her side through all these eyes. She’ll take on the jungle and then she’ll get back to work on new music. She is so excited about what’s to come.’

The trio achieved huge success, releasing two platinum-certified albums, as well as eight top 40 tracks, including hits No Regrets, Say It’s Over, Number 1 and Playing With Fire.

Tulisa eventually parted ways with them in 2011, going on to land the coveted role of X-Factor judge at the age of 22 and remains the youngest judge in the show’s history.

She was hired by Simon Cowell to replace Cheryl Cole and guided Little Mix to victory, who have gone on to become one of the most successful girl groups in history.

However, her X-Factor success was tainted by scandal as a sex tape featuring the star emerged online, leaked by her ex-boyfriend which she has since said made her feel like her ‘world was ending’.

A year later she quit the X Factor and speaking on Olivia Attwood’s podcast last month, she explained: ‘Going back on X Factor it felt like virtual rape. I felt judged, disgusted, and ashamed.

‘I just winged it like I had from the second I got in there but this time I was winging it with my own emotions, just trying to keep my head above water.

‘I just became miserable by the end of that second year, I wasn’t going to do the show again and they could already see where it was going and they weren’t going to hire me again – but then by that point, I’d already said, ‘I can’t do this’.

‘I hated it every day. I just felt all these eyes on me and it reminded me of what happened. I needed time to go away and think about what happened.’

After quitting the X-Factor in 2013, Tulisa was caught up in a drugs scandal when she was arrested on suspicion of supplying class-A drugs.

But it was, in fact, part of a sting operation by the News of the World’s notorious undercover reporter, Mazher Mahmood, otherwise known as the Fake Sheik.

He claimed she had organised a deal to sell him drugs while he was posing as a wealthy film producer.

The case went to court, but Mahmood was accused of tampering with evidence and the case against Tulisa collapsed, while he was later tried on related charges and sentenced to 15 months in prison.

At the time Tulisa insisted: ‘Let me be perfectly clear. I have never dealt drugs and I have never been involved in taking or dealing cocaine. This whole case was a horrific and disgusting entrapment by Mazher Mahmood.’

During her BBC3 documentary filmed during her trial, Tulisa revealed she had been left with thoughts of taking her own life and ‘necked pain killers with vodka’.

A year later, she found herself back in court after being accused of attacking blogger and TOWIE star, Vas J Morgan, in a row at V-Festival in Essex in 2013.

The singer was convicted of assault and ordered to pay a £3,000 fine, later losing an appeal against the conviction.

Then in 2016 she pled guilty to drink driving and handed a 15-month ban after crashing her £150,000 Ferrari in north London.

But she is perhaps most well-known for her long-running legal battle against will.i.am and Britney Spears, who she accused of denying her a writing credit on their hit 2012 track, Scream and Shout.

She claimed to have co-written the song for The Female Boss, but then dropped it from the listing, where will.i.am later used it for his Britney collaboration.

Tulisa insisted her vocals were clearly audible behind Britney’s and in 2018 she won the case and was given official credit on the record as well as 10 percent of the publishing rights and income.
