Along with its medical benefits, Tulsi holds great religious significance in Hindu religion. It is considered auspicious to have a Tulsi plant at home, as it is said to bring happiness and prosperity, along with the presence of Goddess Lakshmi.

Each year, in the month of Kartik, the marriage of Maa Tulsi and Lord Shaligram (a form of Lord Vishnu) is organised and celebrated as a festival.

Devotees observe a fast on the day of Tulsi Vivah and worship both Tulsi and Lord Shaligram. Devotees also conduct Tulsi Vivah ceremonies in temples and homes.

Deoghar astrologer Pandit Nandkishore Mudgal shares the significance of Tulsi Vivah along with the auspicious date and time for this year.

What Is The Best Time For Tulsi Vivah?

“The Tulsi Vivah fast is observed every year on the Ekadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month. This day also coincides with Devuthaan Ekadashi, marking the awakening of Lord Vishnu from his four-month period of Yoga Nidra,” Pandit Mudgal said.

On this day, married women observe a fast and perform rituals to worship Tulsi and Lord Shaligram, seeking happiness and prosperity for their families.

The astrologer noted that the Ekadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in Kartik month will commence at 6:54PM on November 11 and conclude the following day at 7:28PM on November 12.

Therefore, Tulsi Vivah will be observed on November 12. According to astrologer Mudgal, if for any reason Tulsi Vivah cannot be performed on the Ekadashi date, it can also be celebrated on Vaikuntha Chaturdashi.

How to perform Tulsi Vivah?

The astrologer advises that on the day of Tulsi Vivah, one should take a vow to fast after bathing in the morning. Following this, Lord Vishnu is awakened by chanting mantras, blowing conches, and ringing bells. In the evening, at dusk, diyas are lit in the house and temple, and 16 adornments are offered to Tulsi. Finally, the marriage of Lord Shaligram and Tulsi is performed.
