It is human nature to often feel dissatisfied with what we have, especially when it comes to looks and appearance. In the pursuit of an ideal appearance, many people resort to various cosmetic procedures. A new trend of cosmetic surgeries has emerged to get the desired look and shape. Unfortunately, this obsession can sometimes lead to devastating consequences.

A similar story has emerged from China, where a woman’s attempt to improve her looks ended in tragedy. The woman, who was troubled by spots and birthmarks on her face, underwent laser treatment at a hospital to enhance her beauty. However, the outcome was far from what she had hoped for.

A Quest to Remove Blemishes Turns Tragic

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, a woman surnamed Liu from Tianjin, China, lost her life after undergoing laser treatment.

Her husband revealed that she was deeply unhappy with the stains and birthmarks on her body, prompting her to seek laser treatment at Jinmen Dermatology Hospital. The procedure cost approximately Rs 12 lakh. Liu’s mother mentioned that the treatment caused her significant pain and discomfort due to the application of anaesthesia.

A Fatal Outcome

On October 21, during her final treatment session, Liu started feeling unwell after the anaesthetic cream was applied. She became unconscious, prompting doctors to remove the cream and rush her to the hospital. Despite emergency medical care, Liu remained in a critical condition for 10 days before succumbing to her condition.

Preliminary reports suggest that the cause of death was excessive anaesthesia, though the forensic report is still awaited. The hospital has stated that they will take full responsibility if their negligence is confirmed. The incident has sparked widespread concern on social media, with many people highlighting that health should always take priority over beauty.
