The Uttar Pradesh government is set to allocate Rs 400 crore by December this year for the Harnandipuram township project under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion New City Promotion Scheme, which aims to address the demands of a growing population in urban areas like Ghaziabad. The ambitious project, spearheaded by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), involves acquiring approximately 521 hectares of land across eight villages. The total project cost is estimated at Rs 10,000 crore, with Rs 5,000 crore earmarked solely for land acquisition. The expenses will be equally shared by the state government and the GDA.
A detailed breakdown of the land acquisition includes:
247.84 hectares from Nangla Ferozepur
123.97 hectares from Shamsher
54.20 hectares from Shahpur Morta
53.26 hectares from Bhaupur
39.2 hectares from Champat Nagar
11.83 hectares from Bhanera Khurd
8.72 hectares from Mathurapur
2.58 hectares from Morti
Currently, both drone and physical surveys are underway to facilitate the acquisition process. Once completed, this township is expected to significantly alleviate residential space constraints and cater to the city’s burgeoning housing demands. In a high-level meeting held in Lucknow on Monday, the director of the Housing Development Department said that the first installment of the state under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme will be released in December. A GDA official said that in the next six months, the authority will raise Rs 800 crore from its share.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is gearing up to launch the first phase of the Harnandipuram township project next year. To fund the initiative, the authority has been actively raising money through property auctions under various housing schemes. On November 6, GDA successfully generated Rs 58 crore in a single day by auctioning plots in housing schemes such as Indirapuram, Govindpuram, Radhakunj, Shastri Nagar, and Karpooripuram.Building on this momentum, GDA plans to conduct additional auctions to secure further funds for the township’s development.
