A pre-packaged breakfast snack pack has been recalled in 13 states, the US Food and Drug Administration announced on Wednesday.
Naturipe Value Added Fresh voluntarily recalled its 2.1 ounce or 60 gram packages of ‘Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes’ because they contain wheat and eggs that were not mentioned on the label.
The FDA said the recall was initiated after the incorrect label was placed on the packages.
People with celiac disease or who have allergies to wheat or eggs, could experience life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.
In all, 694 cases of the faulty bento box snack packs were distributed to Kroger and Meijer grocery stores in Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Minnesota, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
The affected packages are marked with lot #1097901 and have an expiration date of February 25, 2025. They’re usually found in the refrigerated section of these stores, or in the produce or deli departments.
So far, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been associated with the recalled snack packs.

An investigation found the issue had been caused by a ‘label changeover failure,’ which has since been corrected.
‘Customers with a wheat or egg allergy or sensitivity who have purchased the affected product are urged not to consume the product and dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund,’ the FDA said.

DailyMail.com has catalogued some of most serious food recalls in the United States last year.
Trader Joe’s had to recall its frozen chicken pilaf for fears it may have contained rocks.
The grocery chain also had to recall its steamed chicken soup dumplings for possibly containing hard plastic from a permanent marker pen.
In December, DailyMail.com reported on an urgent recall issued by the maker of MadeGood granola bars over fears its product contained pieces of metal.
A spokesperson for the Canadian-based company, Riverside Natural Foods Inc. said that the pieces of metal were ‘small, but large enough to be seen or felt’.
