A US man was arrested after he posted a video on TikTok in which he can be heard saying that President Donald Trump “needs to be assassinated”. Douglas Thrams posted multiple clips on the social media platform after Donald Trump’s inauguration, threatening anti-government violence, authorities said.
Douglas Thrams was arrested from Indiana and charged with making “interstate communications with a threat to injure.”
The 23-year-old was heard saying in one of the videos, “Every US government building needs to be bombed immediately.”
Talking about Donald Trump, Douglas Thrams used an expletive and said, “He needs to be assassinated and this time, don’t… miss.”
In another video, Douglas Thrams was seen holding a rifle and tapping it, an FBI agent said in an affidavit, as per news agency AFP.
“A friendly little reminder (taps rifle) that we do have a Second Amendment right. We also have in our Declaration of Independence the right to take control of the government and even possibly institute a new one. So I ask the question again—when, where, what time, give me coordinates,” he said, as per a transcript of the video in the court records.
As per court records, he said in another video, “You tell me where to point that goddam weapon and we can go Nazi hunting.”
Donald Trump was the target of two assassination attempts last year including one at a rally in Pennsylvania, where he was wounded in the ear.
