Days after Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy engaged in an ugly verbal spat at the White House, the United States and Ukraine have discussed the date and location for negotiations for a peace deal with Russia.

Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, Yermak, and Trump’s National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, held a telephone conversation and discussed the location and date of negotiations with Russia, according to Zelenskyy’s advisor Lytvyn, Kyiv Post reported.

“I just got off the phone with my counterpart, the Ukrainian national security advisor. We are having good talks on location for the next round of negotiations, on delegations, on substance. Just in the last 24 hours … I think we’re going to see movement,” Waltz told reporters.

The development comes as reports emerged regarding the US cutting off intelligence-sharing with Ukraine, a move that could gravely hamper the Ukrainian military’s ability to target Russian forces.

Trump Gets Zelenskyy’s Letter

Trump on Tuesday said that he received Zelenskyy’s letter mentioning that he was “ready to come to the negotiating table for peace as soon as possible”.

“We received an important letter from the Ukrainian President, saying we are ready to work under the US President for peace and regarding the agreement on minerals. Simultaneously, we received signals from Russia that they were ready for peace,” Trump said.

Trump lauded Zelenskyy’s move towards peace, days after he said that the Ukrainian President “was not ready for peace”.

Zelenskyy Calls Spat With Trump ‘Regrettable’

Zelenskyy on Tuesday expressed regret over his clash with Trump and termed the White House fight “regrettable”.

“Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive,” Zelenskyy wrote in a post on X.

“Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts,” Zelenskyy added.
