Virat Kohli took to Instagram on Sunday (June 15) to share a post for his late father, Prem Nath Kohli, on Father’s Day. The batting maestro shared an unseen picture of him from the childhood days and captioned the post, “He taught me to never rely on shortcuts or influence—because if you truly have it in you, hard work will show it. And if you don’t have the will to work for it, then maybe you don’t deserve it yet. When I was offered an easier path once, he refused it for me. With calm conviction, he said, “If you’re good enough, you’ll find your way. And if not, it’s better to know that early.”

“That one moment shaped how I live, work, and show up in the world. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers whose quiet strength becomes our lifelong compass,” he added.

Earlier during the day, Kohli’s actor wife, Anushka Sharma, also shared a post on Instagram in which she shared a couple of pictures on Father’s Day and captioned, “To the first man I ever loved—and the first man our daughter did …. Happy Father’s Day to all the beautiful fathers everywhere.”

In the second picture shared by Anushka, Vamika Kohli wrote a letter to Virat, and the card read, “He looks like my brother. He is funny. He tickles me. I play makeup with him. I love him so much, and he loves me this much (arms wide). Vamika.”

Kohli, who is one of the greatest batters of all time, lost his father when he was in his teens and had not made his international debut for Team India as well. But in the last so many years, on numerous occasions, he opened up about the life lessons he learnt from him during his childhood days.

Kohli himself is a proud parent of one girl—Vamika—and one boy—Akaay. Kohli’s daughter was born in January 2021, whereas his actor wife, Anushka, gave birth to a baby boy on February 15, 2024.
