Voices from both sides of debate discuss assisted dying bill

A group of protesters a gathered at Parliament Square as MPs debate the final stage of a bill today which could legalise assisted dying in England and Wales.

One woman described her son dying of cancer in “excrutiating pain” and saying that assisted dying would have given him a choice.

Another protester said that the bill will open “a floodgate” if passed.

The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill would allow terminally ill adults with six months or less to live to get medical assistance to end their own lives.
