Paul Pogba remains hopeful of featuring in the Champions League again. The French midfielder became a free agent in November last year when Juventus terminated his contract. Pogba was suspended for four years due to a doping charge. His ban, however, was later reduced to 18 months, thanks to a successful plea at the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS). Pogba will be able to resume his career in March. Since being released by Juventus, the former Manchester United star has been linked with a move to several clubs across the globe.

Amid rumours of his potential transfer to the Saudi Pro League or Major League Soccer, Pogba has revealed his plans to continue in Europe. When he was serving the doping ban, the World Cup winner reportedly received a mouth-watering bid from Brok Boys FC which plays in the Russian Media Football League.

The tournament is not affiliated with FIFA and mostly features social media influencers and celebrities. Pogba immediately turned down the Russian offer as his target was to join a club playing in the Champions League. The 31-year-old spoke about the topic during a recent interaction with French Twitch streamer AmineMaTue.

“There are proposals, then there are interesting things, and not so interesting things… Russia, all that, there have been proposals, but that’s not the goal. We have other goals. A club that plays in the Champions League? Why not. If it comes, of course, why not? We always want to be in the best clubs. After that it doesn’t depend on me, it depends on lots of other things,” Pogba explained, as quoted by GOAL.

Can Paul Pogba shift his base to Spain? The question emerged after the Frenchman’s wife Zulay dropped a cryptic Instagram story while watching a LaLiga match between Real Madrid and Las Palmas on January 19. She shared the screenshot of an on-field moment with the caption– “Can’t wait to see Paul Pogba play again.”

Pogba may reunite with his former Manchester United teammate Mason Greenwood at Marseille. The French club have reportedly kept their eyes on Pogba but nothing can be finalised before March. Marseille look promising to earn Champions League qualification for the 2025-26 season. They are currently second in the Ligue 1 standings, following PSG.
