Washington Commanders spark NFL free agency frenzy after releasing Pro Bowler Jonathan Allen

Defensive tackle Jonathan Allen is reportedly being released by the Washington Commanders.

The two-time Pro Bowler is expected to be one of the most coveted defensive tackles on the market ahead of the 2025 season.

According to ESPN, the Commanders informed Allen of their decision on Friday, with the 30-year-old lineman being allowed to hit free agency early.

Allen was selected by Washington in the first round of the 2017 draft and has spent his entire professional career in the nation’s capital. 

The former Alabama star, who stands at 6ft 3ins and 300lbs, played in 11 games in the 2024 season as the Commanders reached the NFC Championship game.
