The UP Warriorz managed to get their first win on the board thanks to a stunning hat-trick by the Australian all-rounder in the final over of the Women’s Premier League clash against Delhi Capitals that took place in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Harris was tasked to bowl the final over the match with the Capitals needing 33 runs off the over. The off-spinner got rid of Niki Prasad in the first delivery. The batter looked to go after the shorter delivery but was not able to muster up enough power as she found the mid-wicket fielder.
The 31-year-old managed to deliver back-to-back blows as she removed Arundhati Reddy in the next delivery as the batter sliced one to find the cover-point fielder who took a stunning low catch.

With one wicket remaining and three deliveries to go, the win was certain for the Warriorz but Harris stole the show with her hat-trick delivery. A full-length ball which the batter hit it right back at the bowler who initially fumbled the catch but managed to hold on to the ball in her second attempt to seal the hat-trick.
The Aussie becomes the third bowler to achieve the feat. Coincidentally each of the previous editions of the WPL had a hat-trick each. In 2023 it was Issy Wong of the Mumbai Indians who removed Kiran Navgire, Simran Shaikh and Sophie Ecclestone of the Warriorz at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Next up was none other than the Warriorz’ skipper Deepti Sharma who against the Capitals in Delhi managed to remove Meg Lanning, Annabel Sutherland and Arundhati Reddy in the 2024 season.
Credit for Warriorz’ victory should also fall to Chinelle Henry who in the first innings struck an 18-ball fifty to help them set a 178-run target after the first innings. The batter finished with 62 off 23 which helped bring back the Warriorz in the game after the top-order failed to fire. The win now pushes the Warriorz to third in the points table with two points. They will gear up once again when they take on the title-holders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday.
