Manchester City’s Jack Grealish was up against his former club, Aston Villa, in the Premier League last weekend. Grealish’s outing was not memorable with Manchester City conceding a defeat by two goals to one. Grealish and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez were also involved in a heated exchange during their sides’ Premier League meeting. Grealish did not seem too happy with the lack of added time shown ahead of the half-time break and later a spat took place between him and the Argentine shot-stopper. As per The Sun, new footage has captured the moment Martinez aimed a dig at his former teammate, reportedly, saying, “You think you’re a big boy, huh?”

Emiliano Martinez was shown a yellow card for his involvement in the argument with Jack Grealish. The English international was mocked by Aston Villa fans constantly during the Premier League fixture. The Sun claimed Grealish even put three fingers up to fans, in response. While there is no confirmation about what Grealish wanted to convey, it could very well be his reference to Manchester City’s treble-winning season or the number of Premier League titles he won.

Manchester City’s loss to Aston Villa marked their ninth defeat in their last 12 matches across all competitions. Jhon Duran scored an early goal for Aston Villa before Morgan Rogers doubled the lead in the 65th minute for the hosts. Phil Foden did find the back of the net for Manchester City in the 93rd minute but it was not enough for the reigning Premier League champs to even salvage a point.

The defeat at the hands of Aston Villa also meant Manchester City striker Erling Haaland could manage to score once in his last six appearances across all competitions. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was adamant that he and his players could regain their confidence, telling TNT Sports, as per AFP, “Step by step, we have nice personalities in the team and sooner or later we are going to find it.

Manchester City are placed seventh in the Premier League standings currently with 27 points from 17 matches. In their next outing, Pep Guardiola’s men will be up against Everton in the Premier League.
