In a stunning rally that pushed him to the limits, Novak Djokovic came up trumps with a diving backhand volley to win the point.

Age is just a number.
At least for Novak Djokovic as the 24-time Grand Slam winner continues to defy the impact of ageing body to produce moments of incredible athleticism and stun his much younger opponents even at 38 years of age.
On Saturday, it was the turn of Djokovic’s Serbian Davis Cup partner Miomir Kecmanovic to be at the receiving end of his greatness during their meeting in the third round of men’s singles event of the Wimbledon Championships 2025.
In the in the eighth game of the first set, Djokovic was looking to break. An absorbing rally followed that pushed the two opponents to the limit with neither willing to give an inch.
The rally came to an end after a diving backhand volley winner from Djokovic as Kecmanovic who watched helplessly with the ball sailing past him.
Djokovic sat on the ground, smiling as the crowd rose to applaud the tennis great before taking a deserved breather.
He won the contest 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 to enter the fourth round, finishing the contest – that lasted in one hour and 47 minutes – with 60 winners, 16 aces and 19 unforced errors.
“I try not to take anything for granted, particularly (at) this age, still going strong, still trying to compete with the young players and do some slides and some splits on the court, and push myself to the limit,” Djokovic said after the match.
Djokovic became the third player in Wimbledon history to notch up 100 singles victories after Navratilova (120) and Roger Federer. “It’s very historic. It sounds very nice. I am very grateful to be in this position. Wimbledon is a favourite tournament and a dream for so many players. Any history I make at my favourite tournament, I’m blessed,” he said.
He would next face 11th seed Alex de Minaur of Australia for a place in the quarterfinals.
Djokovic can potentially meet world no.1 Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.
