Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal produced a masterful knock to bring up his first century on English soil on Friday in the opening Test of the five-match series between India and England at the Headingley Stadium.
Jaiswal opened the innings for India after being put to bat first by England and came up with a blistering ton to help the tourists take control of the opening day of the series.

Jaiswal began the innings alongside KL Rahul and the duo put up a 91-runs stand for the first wicket before the latter was removed from the crease by Brydon Carse for 42 runs. Debutant Sai Sudharsan had a forgettable day as he departed for a duck as English skipper Ben Stokes scalped the southpaw.
Shubman Gill walked out to bat and accompanied Jaiswal in the middle as the newly appointed captain brought up his half-century to support the efforts of the southpaw. Jaiswal continued scoring runs at a steady fashion as he brought up his century in fine fashion before being congratulated by Gill.
India racked up 215 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets as the players headed to their dressing room for tea.
Jaiswal and Gill resumed the innings following the conclusion of the break as the hosts captain Stokes got another breakthrough for his side with the dismissal of Jaiswal as the all-rounder castled the Indian southpaw for 101 runs.
