Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) – our favourite quiz show – has completed 25 years. The show, hosted by superstar Amitabh Bachchan, has been a fan favourite. In one of the latest episodes of KBC 16, the legendary actor recalled his first reaction when the makers offered him the show. Big B revealed that his parents were initially against the idea of hosting KBC and called it a “mistake.”
The Shehenshah actor said that he was confused and uncertain of how everything would go together. To understand the concept, Amitabh Bachchan and the makers paid a visit to LC Studio in London, where the game was being played. After observing the excitement and energy among fans, Big B agreed.
Amitabh Bachchan added that he was super nervous on day one of the shoot. “The producers never noticed my heartbeat and the camera didn’t catch my legs shaking on the first day. I had no idea what would happen. I decided to just speak whatever I had to say,” Amitabh said.
The actor also shared his family’s reaction when he informed them about turning a host for the small screen. “I didn’t listen to them and still went ahead. And here I am, sitting in this chair for the past 25 years,” the actor added.

KBC’s silver jubilee episode also featured Harshvardhan Nawathe, the show’s first ‘Crorepati’, in a special appearance. The current edition premiered in August 2024.
Meanwhile, Amitabh will be next seen in the courtroom drama Section 84 alongside Abhishek Banerjee and Nimrat Kaur. The release date is yet to be announced.
