The penultimate day of the Parliament Winter Session was marred by BJP vs Congress “assault” allegation war as the MPs protested in the Parliament complex.

Parliament Scuffle: A massive face-off took place between the BJP and Congress as both parties levelled “scuffle” and “assault” allegations against each other, in which MPs from both sides claimed injuries.
The matter pertains to protests being carried out by the BJP MPs at the Makar Dwar of the Parliament building. The party alleged that Rahul Gandhi attempted to enter the Parliament by pushing the BJP MPs which inflicted injuries upon them, forcing them to be rushed to RML Hospital.
The Congress, in turn, also alleged that the BJP MPs tried to stop their MPs, which also included women MPs, from protesting against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr BR Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha.
What Happened When Rahul Gandhi Approached Pratap Sarangi?
As the BJP MPs were seen surrounding Sarangi, who reportedly suffered a head injury in the incident, Rahul Gandhi approached the gathering of BJP MPs.
As he inched closer, visibly miffed BJP MP Nishikant Dubey called Rahul Gandhi out asking, “Are you not ashamed Rahul Gandhi? You do hooliganism. You pushed an old man”.
Reacting to the allegation, the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition replied, “He has pushed me”.
The BJP MPs took an objection to it and said, “He has not pushed you”.
Rahul Gandhi, without taking an update on Sarangi’s well-being, was seen walking away to the Opposition camp.
Rahul Gandhi Alleges BJP MPs Pushed Him
Speaking to the media later, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the BJP MPs tried to stop him from entering the Parliament and pushed him and threatened him.
“This might be on your camera. I was trying to go inside through the Parliament entrance, BJP MPs were trying to stop me, push me, and threaten me. So this happened…Yes, this has happened (Mallikarjun Kharge being pushed). But we do not get affected by jostling,” he said.
The Opposition MPs marched with placards in their hands in the Parliament complex, demanding the resignation of Amit Shah.
Both BJP and Congress have filed police complaints against each other. Several BJP MPs and Ministers reached RML Hospital to see Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who was also injured in the incident.
