CID, one of the most popular crime shows on TV, has returned for its second season. What has kept the audience hooked is that the series brought back its original cast, including Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava and Dayanand Shetty, after a six-year break. In a recent interview, Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastav reflected on their experience of working on this show for years. Among other things, Dayanand revealed how he once pulled a prank on another actor on set by playfully referring to Jason Statham, the Hollywood actor, as Shivaji’s son.

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Dayanand Shetty stated, “Ek baar ek artist aaya tha toh usko aisa bola ki yeh jo Satam sahab hai na, inke bete jo hain Hollywood mein kaam karte hain. Usne pucha kya baat kar rahe ho. Maine bola han. Woh jo action fight karte hain, Jason Statham. Woh hai na wahan pe hero, usko bhi side balding hai thoda. Woh maan gaya (Once an artist came, and I told him that Satam sir’s son works in Hollywood. He asked what are you talking about. I said yes. The one who does action sequences and fight scenes, Jason Statham. He is an actor over there and also has a little side balding. He agreed).” Dayanand added that the actor was surprised and asked if Jason Statham was an Indian actor to which he played on and increased the confusion.

On December 21, CID made a grand return to television, bringing back the iconic characters ACP Pradyuman, Daya and Abhijeet. Its reintroduction is a treat for fans, as well as a source of nostalgia.

Some time back, in a conversation with AP Podcast, Dayanand Shetty mentioned how shooting for CID was different to working on daily soaps. He added how the sets always changed depending on the story. He said, “The plus point of CID was that every day was different. The location and co-stars kept changing. Sometimes we would shoot with a big star and sometimes with other actors. We had around 15-17 locations in every episode. So, we weren’t bored.”
