Kanwar Dhillon has earned a place in the hearts of viewers with his memorable performances in shows like Do Dil Ek Jaan, Piya Rangrez, Pandya Store, among others. Now, he plays the role of Sachin in the popular TV show Udne Ki Aasha where his character is a taxi driver. Recently, the actor shared a heartfelt anecdote about a fan interaction that truly touched him and made him realise the impact his character has on the audience.
During an interview, Kanwar opened up about a special moment he had with a cab driver. He recalled that after his car was sent to the service centre, he took a cab to the set. When it was time to pay the fare, the driver surprised him by refusing to accept the payment. “Aap paise kyun nahi le rahe ho (Why are you not taking money from me),” Kanwar asked the driver to which he replied, “Sachin bhaiya aapko pata nahi, humlog ko kitna proud hai aap pe (Sachin brother, you don’t know how much proud we are of you).”
Kanwar shared how deeply moved he was by the gesture, especially knowing how much that small fare means to cab drivers. He added, “He thought that I had made his community proud. That was very touching for me, it reinstated the feeling of understanding the level of emotional connection the viewers have with the character.” This fan interaction remains one of Kanwar’s most cherished memories.
When asked about the key quality a hero should have on screen, Kanwar mentioned the importance of relatability. According to him, the ability to connect with the audience is crucial. He also shared that while making people cry can be easier, making them laugh is a lot more challenging. “I think between both of them, it is very difficult to make people laugh and I have learnt that with my previous outing,” he added.
The actor feels fortunate to explore the comic side of his character in Udne Ki Aasha. Kanwar admitted that making people laugh is a challenge, which is why he believes it’s one of the must-have qualities for a hero.
In Udne Ki Aasha, Kanwar stars alongside Tanvi Shewale, who plays Roshini. The show recently celebrated the milestone of 250 episodes. Reflecting on this achievement in an interview with Telly Chakkar, Kanwar described the moment as “surreal.” He went on to talk about the beautiful journey they have had where the entire cast and crew worked together in harmony to build a strong connection with the audience.
