Chennaiyin FC boss Owen Coyle revealed how painful it feels to concede a defeat and iterated that he would like his players to be more vocal on the field, ahead of the Chennai-based side’s home game against Hyderabad FC slated to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday in the 2024-25 season of the Indian Super League.
CFC stand 9th in the ISL table with 12 points from 11 outings but could jump to the playoff positions with a win over the visiting HFC.
Chennai have registered three wins, as many draws and five defeats up until this point in the season, but haven’t managed to win at home yet this campaign. CFC have also slumped to a defeat in their three previous games as Coyle works to pull his side out of the slump they have been experiencing.
Two-time ISL winners CFC played out a draw against Hyderabad in the earlier clash between the sides in the ongoing campaign at the Gachibowli Stadium in Telangana.
Ahead of the return leg at the Marina Arena, Coyle opined that his side played well before conceding the first goal against East Bengal FC in their previous outing.

“We did very well before the East Bengal goal. We created five really good chances, which we failed to utilise, which could have been avoided,” Coyle said.
“There are always going to be runs in periods when you’ve lost games. It’s not nice. It’s a horrible feeling,” the Brit continued.
“Nobody hurts more than us, but we are the ones who can change it, and we are the only ones who can go to that field, score our goals, take our chances, win the game, and put a smile on the fans’ faces,” he added.
“What I would say more to the general point is that the whole team can be more vocal. As much as Ryan Edwards is the captain, when you’re on that field, you should have 11 captains. You need 11 leaders,” Coyle added.
