Rishit Jhunjhunwala, who has been appointed as Truecaller’s new group CEO, will replace Alan Mamedi who has announced his decision to leave his current role.
Rishit Jhunjhulwala has been working with Truecaller since 2015 and is currently its chief product officer and managing director of India.
Swedish-based global caller ID platform Truecaller has appointed Indian-origin Rishit Jhunjhunwala as its new group chief executive officer (CEO), with effect from January 9, 2025. Currently, Jhunjhunwala is the company’s chief product officer and managing director of India.
Jhunjhunwala will replace Alan Mamedi, who announced the decision to leave his current role as CEO. The company’s Chief Strategy Officer Nami Zarringhalam also decided to leave the role to focus on board duties.
“After 9th of January Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam will continue to be employed by the company as advisors until 30th of June 2025 to cater for a solid transition,” Truecaller said in a statement.
Who is Rishit Jhunjhunwala?
Rishit Jhunjhulwala has been working with Truecaller since 2015. He served as its head of product. Since 2021, he has also been the managing director of Truecaller India. Rishit Jhunjhunwala is born and raised in India but a Swedish citizen.
He worked and lived in Sweden between 2015-2022. In his current role, he has been overall responsible for Truecaller’s product teams and for the two revenue streams advertising and Truecaller for business.
Born in 1977, Jhunjhunwala holds business management degree from the Bangalore University. Prior to Truecaller, he worked with July Systems as its vice-president. He also co-founded Cloud Magic.
In their joint letter, Mamedi and Zarringhalam said, “We are pleased to announce that Rishit Jhunjhunwala will be transitioning into the role of Global CEO. Rishit has been an integral part of our leadership team, serving as Head of Product for the past decade—spending his first seven years in Stockholm—and the last three years as our India CEO, which includes our global ads and enterprise business, and our largest employee- and user base. His deep product knowledge and leadership experience have been critical to our success, and we have always regarded him as a co-founder of Truecaller.”
