Widow, 81, wins £4MILLION Scottish Omaze house and reveals how she celebrated…(before admitting she already plans to sell the property)

A widow says her late husband will be ‘smiling down on the family’ after she scooped a stunning £4million house in the Scottish Highlands and £250,000 in cash – for just £25.

Patricia Moule, 81, has won the latest Omaze million-pound house draw in Scotland and is now the proud owner of a contemporary four-bedroom property nestled on the shores of Loch Rannoch, Perthshire.

Former Personal Manager Patricia, from Southampton, had settled down to watch Friday night TV when she got the call about her life-changing win.

She said: ‘It was just another Friday night really, I was just getting ready to settle down with a cup of coffee and watch a bit of telly.

‘Then all of a sudden, I get a call and the Omaze team turns up to tell me I’ve won a £4 million house in the Scottish Highlands, I was absolutely overwhelmed!

‘I made myself a nice gin and tonic to celebrate, but a stiff scotch would’ve probably been more appropriate!

‘Things like this just don’t happen to people like me, I never win anything, the best thing I’ve ever won before this was a doll when I was nine years old. This definitely tops that, and was worth waiting 70 years for!’

Patricia, who bought her £4million winning entry for just £25 as part of her Omaze subscription, has a daughter, Sarah, 57, and granddaughter Louisa, 18.

In 2012, Patricia shed five stone so she could donate a kidney to her husband of more than 55 years David in a lifesaving operation, saying it meant she could spend another seven years with her ‘best friend’.

The surgery was a success but sadly David died in 2019 from prostate cancer. Now the proud grandmother says her late husband would be ‘beyond happy’ about her big win, adding that he will be ‘smiling down on the family because he’d absolutely love this place and would know what a difference winning it will make’.

Patricia plans to sell the house, which she describes as offering her family ‘a generational legacy’ that will secure their future.

Patricia also gets a whopping £250,000 in cash to help her settle in and can decide to either live in the house, rent it out for a supplementary income, or sell it whenever she wishes to become a cash multi-millionaire.

Omaze estimates that if she decides to keep the property, the £250,000 would enable her to run the house for more than five years. The house also comes with £160,000 worth of furnishings, ready for Patricia and her family to enjoy the day they get the keys.

If she decided to rent it out, local estate agents estimate that the property could achieve a long-term rental value of between £8,000 – £10,000 per month.

Speaking about her new house, she said: ‘It’s breathtaking up here, it’s like something from a film, come to think of it I must watch Braveheart now I own a home in Scotland!

‘The house is enormous, it might take me a week to look around the place, I think I’ll need a map! I can’t believe I’ve got a loch at the end of my garden, it’s just incredible.

‘The scenery is spectacular, I’ve never seen anything so beautiful in all my life.

‘I’ve been to Scotland before, as my late husband David was a golf fanatic, so we came up to play here.

‘I know he’ll be smiling down on us now, he’d have absolutely loved this place and everything that it will do for us.

‘I gave him a kidney back in 2012, it meant I got to spend seven more years with my best friend. I wish he was still here to share this with me, but I know he’d be beyond happy for all of us.

‘Thanks to the £250,000 I also got as part of my win, I could afford to stay here for years if I wanted to, but I will sell it as the huge amount of money from the sale is so transformational for the family, it’s a generational legacy that means their future is now secure.

This was the third time Alzheimer’s Research UK has partnered with Omaze and brings the total raised for the charity by the Omaze community to £8 million.

On the donation to Alzheimer’s Research UK: ‘I’m so happy Omaze has raised so much for Alzheimer’s Research UK. My son-in-law’s mother had Alzheimer’s and recently passed away, so we know firsthand how important Alzheimer’s Research UK is, it’s a charity that means a lot to all the family.’

Hilary Evans-Newton, Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Chief Executive, said: ‘We are thrilled that the Omaze Million Pound House draw in Scotland raised an incredible amount of £3.9 million for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

‘The funds raised will support our Drug Discovery team – a dedicated group of researchers working to fast-track the search for life-changing new treatments for every form of dementia.

‘Dementia remains the UK’s biggest killer. But there are still no treatments available on the NHS that can slow, stop or prevent it. But with the support of Omaze and everyone who entered the draw, we are changing that.’

James Oakes, President of Omaze, said: ‘Everyone at Omaze is elated that Patricia and her family have won this breathtaking house in Scotland, whilst also contributing to our huge raise for Alzheimer’s Research UK, who we’ve now raised a total of £8 million for over three incredible partnerships.

‘Omaze offers people the chance to win amazing houses, whilst also introducing charities to new audiences that they wouldn’t normally reach-it’s a real win-win for entrants and our charity partners. We’re immensely proud that the Omaze Community has now raised over £85 million for good causes across the UK.’
