Wild moment ‘Zionist Karen’ erupts at a mother and daughter over their outfit choice at a Kmart in Australia

A woman has been labelled a ‘Zionist Karen’ after screaming at a mother and her daughter at a Kmart because of their pro-Palestine outfits. 

The shocking encounter in Bankstown, south-west Sydney, saw the woman erupt into a foul-mouthed tirade that was filled with shouting and vile language. 

The woman, who was dressed in a sleeveless black t-shirt, walked up to the mum and daughter with an angry, menacing look on her face and the middle finger of her right hand raised. 

She stood in front of the pair, who were filming the encounter, for several seconds before finally unleashing her rage in a torrent of abuse. 

‘Are you proud of wearing “From the river to the sea?”,’ she roared, referring to the slogan that is used extensively by the pro-Palestine movement. 

The phrase refers to the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, which includes Israel and which many Palestinians say should be part of Palestine. 

‘You are… get f***** Allah,’ the woman’s tirade of abuse continued. ‘Every f****** day. F*** off.’

Having vented her anger and said her piece, the woman then stormed off.

The footage was shared to social media platform X along with the caption: ‘Raging lunatic… aka Zionist Karen’.

The poster said she ‘verbally attacked (a) mother and young daughter wearing matching pro-Palestine shirts at a Kmart in Bankstown’. 

Social media users were quick to slam the woman’s behaviour. 

‘She looks possessed,’ one commenter wrote, while another called her a ‘cartoonish … villain’.

But others backed the ‘Karen’, with one poster writing that ‘she said out loud, what most of us are thinking’.

Another suggested there was a double standard going on, posting that ‘its fine if its the other way around though right?’

Others praised the mother and daughter for showing restraint and not engaging.

‘The self control of the person filming to not start howling with laughter is impressive,’ one wrote.

City of Canterbury Bankstown mayor Bilal El Hayek slammed the incident.

‘I have been made aware of and watched footage of a deeply concerning incident at Kmart Bankstown,’ he wrote on Facebook.

‘I want to assure the community that I have spoken with the police, and they are actively investigating the matter. 

‘We are committed to ensuring that everyone in Canterbury-Bankstown feels safe and respected. 

‘Our city is built on values of diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect. 

‘Hate speech and discrimination are never acceptable, and we must all work together to create an environment of kindness and understanding.’
