Ferrari racer Lewis Hamilton has suggested he wouldn’t retire from Formula 1 if he wins another world title. The British motorsport icon ended his long-standing partnership with Mercedes to join the Italian carmakers for the upcoming F1 season. The all-time greats will now eye an eighth World Championship in 2025. He recently spoke to the media about how he would be more motivated to compete after winning another Drivers’ crown this year. “If I was fortunate enough to win another title, which isobviouslywhat we’re setting out to do, I don’t see myself stopping,” Hamilton said, as per Crash.net.
Lewis Hamilton is already one of Formula 1’s most successful racers, enjoying an illustrious with Mercedes in the last two decades. Following his blockbuster switch, the 40-year-old now hopes to achieve a feat that has so far eluded him. Hamilton has not been able to fight for a world title since controversially missing out on a record eighth Formula 1 Championship in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
In the same interview, Lewis Hamilton spoke about Ferrari having a complete team ready to challenge for the top spot. He is confident that the Italian car makers are ready to end their 17-year drought for an F1 title. “I’ve worked with two world championship-winning teams before and I know what a winning team looks like,” he said. “The passion here is like nothing you’ve ever seen, they’ve got every ingredient they need to win a world championship and it’s just about putting all the pieces together,” Hamilton added.
Lewis Hamilton had more high praise for his team as they prepared for the new campaign.“I thinkin their DNAthey have that winning mentally,” Hamilton said. He also acknowledged the 2025 F1 season would likely be a tight one. “The competition is fierce and you’ve had great results from other iconic teams like McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes. It’’s going to be close at the top but I’ve got a great teammate,” he concluded.
Lewis Hamilton got to test Ferrari’s new 2025 car earlier this month. The British racer drove the SF-25 on track for the first time in shakedown at Fiorano. He will now focus on securing a podium finish early during the first race of the season in the Australian Grand Prix. Hamilton will compete alongside his teammate Charles Leclerc at Albert Park in Melbourne on March 16. It will be followed by the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai on March 23.
