Qualcomm has big plans to bring the Windows Copilot Plus laptops to around Rs 80,000

Windows 11 AI laptops powered by Snapdragon X processor have shown a lot of promise but the price tag needs to come down fast.

The Windows AI laptop era has started on a costlier note in 2024 but companies are already planning to shift these AI-powered devices to a lower price range by early 2025.

The Qualcomm chief has confirmed these developments recently, giving us hopes that we could soon have AI laptops running on Windows and its Snapdragon X processor costing below Rs 1 lakh or even Rs 80,000 in the market.

It would be funny to say that such laptops will be categorised in the budget segment but going by the current prices of these Windows AI laptops, any price revision in five digits will surely excite consumers. Most Windows AI laptops you see in the market cost $999 (Rs 83,000 approx) but people in countries like India have to spend another grand or two extra to own these high-powered machines.

Qualcomm says it will soon expand the Snapdragon X series with different processors that will bring the laptop prices down to $700 (Rs 57,000 approx) by early next year. If we go by the current value of these systems, buyers in India could soon expect the new processor will offer Windows laptops for around Rs 80,000.

Affordable AI Laptops, Yes Please!

The chip giant has only given the price references during the recent earnings call but we are eager to see how the new Snapdragon X processor pans out as a final product and what it offers for the cut down costs as the hardware will surely see some toning down.

Having said that, Cristiano Amon from Qualcomm has mentioned the NPU performance of these lower-priced AI Snapdragon X processors will not be compromised which will surely get people excited for the next batch of AI laptops in the market.

We have already got a fair idea of how these Snapdragon X powered Windows laptops perform, and their battery life bump is a big plus for these machines. However, developers really need to amp up the app’s support for the ARM-based Windows laptops to appeal to more buyers across different price brackets.
