WNBA fans were left stunned on Tuesday night after a sex toy was thrown on the court mid-game.
In bizarre scenes during the fourth quarter of Atlanta Dream’s clash against Golden State Valkyries, the bright green object was chucked from the stands onto the court.
The incident occurred with just a minute left in the game and the score tied 75-75. Despite immediate concern from some players, officials allowed the Valkyries possession to continue.
Eventually, once the possession came to an end, officials brought an abrupt halt to the game as they addressed the bizarre situation.
Players, coaches and fans were left bemused by the incident and evidently so were the broadcast team, who briefly cut to a close up of the sex toy.
Eventually, after a minute of deliberation, the sex toy was collected by a police officer who had been courtside and was taken away.

Footage appeared to show the officer being handed a piece of cloth by a fan, in order to pick up the lewd object.
As officials debated what to do, an announcement from the arena’s PA warned fans that anyone who throws objects on the court will be subject to ejection.
Commentators were left ‘shocked’ that officials did not immediately bring the game to a halt and that the Valkyries were forced to ‘play through it’.
They also called for Gateway Center Arena security to remove the fan who threw the object. They claimed there is ‘no room for any of that type of activity’.
The incident quickly went viral on social media as fans were left stunned by the bizarre moment.
Despite the sex toy seemingly disrupting the Valkyries’ clutch possession, the side still managed to rally their focus and push themselves to a 77-75 win.
The Valkyries won for only the fourth time in 13 road games, as they avoided a fourth consecutive defeat away from Chase Center.
Cecilia Zandalasini led the way with 18 points scored, eight rebounds and two assists on the night.
