As several world leaders are pushing for bright prospect of peace in the Middle East by urging Iran to engage in dialogue, Tehran on Friday stated that it is not prepared for any talks until Israeli pauses airstrikes.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said the country is not prepared for any talks while Israeli strikes continue.

According to news agency Reuters, the Iranian minister made the comments in reference to its nuclear programme.

This comes as Europe sought to bring Tehran back to the negotiating table following President Donald Trump’s hints at potential direct involvement of the United States into the Iran-Israel conflict.

It is speculated that Trump’s decision on potential US involvement in the crisis is expected within two weeks.

The Middle East, which is already in crisis since the October 7 attack on Israel in 2023, saw further escalation in conflict after Tel Aviv began attacking Tehran last Friday. Israel attacked the Islamic Republic, saying it aimed to prevent its longtime enemy from developing nuclear weapons. However, Tehran retaliated with full strength, carrying multiple missile and drone attacks on the Jewish nation. Iran has further claimed that its nuclear program is peaceful.

Reuters, citing Human Rights Activists News Agency, reported that Israeli airstrikes have so far claimed 639 lives in Iran. Those killed include the military’s top officials and nuclear scientists.

Meanwhile, Israel claims at least two dozen Israeli civilians lost their lives in Iranian missile attacks.

Further, Israel has targeted nuclear sites, missile capabilities, while also hitting civilian areas, as it tries to make Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei loosen his grip, reports claim.

“Are we targeting the downfall of the regime? That may be a result, but it’s up to the Iranian people to rise for their freedom,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday.
