World Chess Championship 2024 Game 13 Live Updates: Ding Fighting The Clock Again As Gukesh Maintains Slender Advantage

World Chess Championship Game 13 Live Updates, D Gukesh Vs Ding Liren:

Indian GM D Gukesh returns to the main board to take on Chinese counterpart Ding Liren in Game 13 of the World Chess Championship 2024 Final on Wednesday in Singapore.

At the end of twelve games thus far, the 14-game series stands perfectly balanced at 6 points each.

The Chinese champion, Liren, who entered the summit clash fighting against the odds, opened with a win in the curtain raiser of the match in Game 1, before holding his advantage with a second-game draw.

However,  the Indian challenger came back strong in Game 3 to clinch the win as Liren ran out of time on the clock and evened the scores.

Games 4 through 10 proved to be pragmatic as the finalists ended up shaking the hand of the other at the end of each iteration of the championship battle as the scoreboard kept bulging in increments of 05. points each following their drawn games.

Gukesh turned the match around in Game 11 as he sealed a win to inch ahead 6-5, but Liren demonstrated his resilience yet again to pull back level at 6-6 in Game 12.

How Will The Title Be Decided?

For a player to be crowned the champion, one would need a total of 7.5 games from the total of 14 games. A win results in one point, a draw entitles 0.5 and a loss is 0 points respectively. If the match ends in a tie after all 14 games, a tiebreak will be held the following day to determine the winner.

This year’s tournament marks the first time in 138 years that two Asian players will be pitted against each other in the summit clash, with a prize money of USD 2.5 million going to the winner.
