Xiaomi could start the process for its Android 16-based HyperOS 3 version later this month. The details are sketchy but come via a reliable tipster this week. The company’s usual OS roll out cycle has been slow over the years and it seems they are just going to start with the Android 16 beta program, hinting at a later release date for the stable version. Google has already offered the stable Android 16 update for Pixel users, albeit without the new UI changes.

Samsung has also started the One UI 8 beta program for its recent devices and others are following suit. But Xiaomi is clearly planning for some big changes with the new version, which explains the delays, something that Samsung had to face with the One UI 7 version in the last 12 months.

Xiaomi Android 16 Beta Update: What We Know

Xiaomi has not shared the details about HyperOS 3.0 version but rumours circling around the circuit suggest the Android 16 beta will start some time this month. Digital Chat Station is the tipster who is the source of the news who talks about various companies starting their beta testing in August. And we can assume that Xiaomi will be part of the clan that should include Huawei and Honor among others.

Xiaomi plans to make design and interface changes for the new HyperOS update that will come with both Android 15 and 16 versions as per reports. The company needs the Android 16 update to roll out for the premium 15 series devices first, so that people continue to trust the brand with its software focus.

However, the mid-range Redmi Note phones will have to wait a little longer to see their devices get the latest Android 16 version from the brand. If all things go smoothly, expect the Android 16 stable update to release around mid-September.

Meanwhile, you have Nothing Phone 3 getting the Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 version which should also move into the stable phase in the next few months. Other Nothing phones should receive the new update before the end of the year.
