Talking to News18, Assistant Professor at Bundelkhand Medical College and Hospital in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Sumit Rawat said that certain symptoms can signal rising blood sugar levels. It’s important to cut back on sugar immediately upon noticing these signs.

Ignoring them can increase the risk of diseases. Our bodies are designed to help us recognise these issues, but we need to be informed to act on these natural warnings. Excessive sugar intake can increase the risk of obesity and metabolic issues, adds Dr Sumit Rawat. If you notice these seven symptoms, stop consuming sugar immediately to stay healthy.

  • Constant Fatigue and Lethargy: Feeling tired constantly may indicate excessive sugar intake. While sugar provides a quick energy boost, after that the body becomes lethargic feeling drained throughout the day.
  • Rapid Weight Gain: Consumption of excess sugar is converted into body fat, leading to weight gain, particularly around the stomach and waist.
  • Acne and Skin Rashes: High sugar intake can raise insulin levels, causing hormonal imbalances that may result in acne, rashes, and skin irritation. Excessive sugar levels can significantly impact one’s skin.
  • Frequent Hunger: Constant cravings, especially for sweets, may signal sugar addiction. Consuming too much sugar can cause blood sugar levels to drop rapidly, leading to increased hunger pangs and a cycle of overeating.
  • Dental Problems: If you’re experiencing toothaches or cavities, it could be due to high sugar consumption. Sugar consumption leads to the growth of bacteria that cause dental plaque, leading to cavities, gum issues, and tooth decay.
