A fan took to social media to request financial assistance in order to catch a glimpse of the NC Classic, and Chopra took it upon himself to fund the fan’s trip to watch the event.

Indian javelin throw ace Neeraj Chopra surprised an aficionado of the sport with an all-expense paid trip to watch the inagura edition of the Neeraj Chopra Classic, slated to be held at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on the 5th of July, in a heartwarming gesture.
The fan from Coimbatore, Ranjith Kumar Ravichandran, took to social media platform requesting financial assistance in order to catch a glimpse of the invitational event headlined by the double Olympic medallist Chopra.
And much to his amusement Chopra, who took notice of the request, took it upon himself to fund the fan’s trip to watch the NC Classic.
Chopra replied to he fan with a post that read, “Hi, Ranjith. You’ve got a full VVIP experience waiting for you in Bengaluru because your trip to the nc_classic is on me!”
Chopra also added that the fan had a room reserved for him at Radisson Hotels, who are partners to the NC Classic, India’s first-ever World Athletics Category ‘A’ Javelin competition.
“And thanks to RadissonHotels , you’ll be staying about 90 metres away from me. See you soon,” he javelin throw star added.
The event, which was originally scheduled to be held on the 24th of May, but had to be postponed in the aftermath of the armed conflict between India and neighbouring nation Pakistan, promised to pit seven international javelin throwers alongside five Indian athletes, including double Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra himself.
The organisers of the Neeraj Chopra Classic confirmed the 12-man entry list for the inaugural edition of the javelin throw event, incluing two-time World Champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, Thomas Rohler of Germany, who clinched the 2016 Olympic gold medal, 2015 world champion Julius Yego of Kenya, American Curtis Thompson, Brazilian Luiz Mauricio da Silva, Sri Lankan Rumesh Pathirage and Poland’s Martin Konecny make up the overseas invitees, while the Indian contingent will comprise Sachin Yadav, Kishore Jena, Rohit Yadav, and Sahil Silwal in addition to Chopra.
