US Vice President JD Vance on Saturday slammed the pro-Ukraine protesters for chasing him while he was out on a walk with his three-year-old daughter, leaving her “anxious and scared” due to their shouts.

Vance said as his daughter was scared, he decided to talk to the protesters and noted that the conversation was “mostly respectful”.

“Today while walking my 3-year-old daughter a group of “Slava Ukraini” protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared. I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed.)” he posted on X.

“It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a shit person,” the Vice President added.

The latest confrontation comes days after he was greeted by pro-Ukraine protesters during his family trip to Vermont for skiing.

Hundreds of protesters gathered in Waitsfield, Vermont, holding signs that read “International embarrassment” and “Vermont stands with Ukraine,” to oppose the vice president’s visit to the Republican-led state.

As a result of the demonstration, the Vance family was reportedly forced to relocate from their planned ski resort to an undisclosed location.

Vance has faced intense backlash from pro-Ukraine supporters, particularly following his heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on February 28.

Why Protests Against JD Vance?

During a tense Oval Office meeting, US Vice President Vance and President Donald Trump confronted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy over his request for additional American funding. Vance not only questioned Zelenskyy’s credibility but also warned that Ukraine risked losing US support if it refused the terms being offered.

The atmosphere grew even more charged when Vance repeatedly pressed Zelenskyy on whether he had expressed gratitude for the aid provided by the US.

“Mr. President, with respect, I think it’s disrespectful for you to come to the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media. Right now, you’re forcing conscripts to the frontlines due to manpower shortages. You should be thanking the president,” Vance stated bluntly.

He went further, accusing Ukraine of managing perceptions through propaganda. “I’ve actually watched and seen the stories, and I know what happens—you bring people on a propaganda tour, Mr. President. Do you deny having recruitment struggles? And do you think it’s appropriate to come to the Oval Office of the United States and criticize the administration that is working to prevent the destruction of your country?”

Zelenskyy responded, “Everybody has problems” during war, even the US.

At this, Trump, speaking in a firm and forceful tone, made his stance clear: “You don’t have the cards right now. You’re either going to make a deal, or we’re out. And if we’re out, you’ll have to fight it out—and I don’t think it’s going to be pretty.”

The heated exchange, witnessed by US and international media, ended with Zelenskyy walking out of the White House, leaving diplomatic relations between Washington and Kyiv in deep uncertainty.
