YouTube offers many features that cater to the needs of users with subtitles and auto summary and now you have dubbing too.

Auto-dubbing will help people watch videos of any language

YouTube is making it easier for people to connect with creators and discover content globally. Whether you’re interested in learning to sew traditional garments from an Indian seamstress, cooking with a French chef, or exploring haunted locations in another country, YouTube’s new auto-dubbing feature ensures you can enjoy content in any language, making it more accessible than ever.

The new auto-dubbing feature is available to hundreds of thousands of channels within the YouTube Partner Program. According to a blog post from YouTube, the feature is initially being rolled out for content focused on knowledge and information, with plans to expand to other types of content in the near future.

To check if this feature is available for your channel, head over to the Advanced Settings option. The company allows creators the option to review the dubs before publishing.

Auto Dubbing On YouTube: How It Works

Upload your video: Just like any other video, upload your video, and YouTube will automatically detect the language of your video. Understanding this, the platform will create dubbed versions in other languages.

Watch your dubbed videos: If you want to see your dubbed videos, go to the YouTube Studio option in the Languages section. Listen to the dubs, and if you’re not happy with them, you can unpublish or even delete them.

“It’s important to remember that this technology is still pretty new, and it won’t always be perfect. We’re working hard to make it as accurate as possible, but there might be times when the translation isn’t quite right or the dubbed voice doesn’t accurately represent the original speaker. We really appreciate your patience and feedback as we continue to improve,” the blog post added.

Curious about which languages are supported by auto dubbing? If your video is in English, it can be dubbed into Hindi, Indonesian, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, and Spanish. Conversely, if the video is in any of these languages, it will be dubbed into English.

To distinguish when a video has auto-dubbed audio tracks, viewers can look out for the “auto-dubbed” label or use the track selector to hear the video in its original language.

Other than this, YouTube is continuing to work with Google DeepMind and Google Translate to bring cutting-edge capabilities to make dubs even more expressive, accurate, and natural. The company mentioned in its blog post, “Look forward to updates that will bring “Expressive Speech,” previewed at Made on YouTube, to help emulate the creator’s tone, emotion, and even the ambiance of the surroundings.”
