Russia-Ukraine War: Zelenskyy said that Donald Trump should impose a robust package of sanctions on Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy extended a call for a trilateral summit involving himself, US President Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as he intensifies efforts to compel Moscow to cease its three-year invasion.
Zelenskyy expressed his openness to various formats for engagement, saying, “If Putin is not comfortable with a bilateral meeting, or if everyone wants it to be a trilateral meeting, I don’t mind. I am ready for any format.
Beyond the summit proposal, Zelenskyy also articulated a strong desire for Donald Trump to impose a robust package of sanctions on Russia’s critical banking and energy sectors amid a recent surge in Russian aerial attacks and Moscow’s continued refusal to agree to a ceasefire.
Donald Trump Issues Stark Warning To Vladimir Putin
Zelenskyy’s comments come as Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Vladimir Putin, accusing him of “playing with fire” regarding stalled peace efforts in Ukraine. This latest broadside follows Trump’s weekend condemnation of the Kremlin leader as “CRAZY” after a significant Russian aerial attack on Kyiv, at which time he also cautioned Moscow about potential new sanctions.
Writing on his Truth Social network, Donald Trump said, “What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!”
