Three NFL dumpster fires make embarrassing league history not seen in nearly three decades
Nothing about an 0-5 team is spectacular, but three 0–5 teams in the same conference? That’s a different story.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans all have the unfortunate distinction of being winless. It’s the first time in 28 years that three teams in the same conference have started 0-5, according to ESPN.

The three organizations are in different situations. The Dolphins were expected to struggle, as they are in the first year of a rebuild with a new coach and general manager. If you had told Dolphins fans before the season that their team would be winless about halfway through October, not many would have been surprised.

If you had told Titans fans before the season that their team would be winless through five games, they would have been pretty surprised. With Cam Ward in his second season and a new coaching staff in town, Titans fans would have expected their team to contend in the AFC South, not sit in the division’s basement.
If you had told Chargers fans before the season that their team would be winless through five games, they probably would have laughed in your face. They won’t be laughing anymore, though.
Their offense, which was supposed to be much improved with the addition of former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator, has been woeful. The Chargers rank 30th in the NFL in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game.

Fittingly, only the Dolphins (14 points per game) and the Titans (11.6) average.
The good news for Miami is that the Dolphins can’t lose this week, as they have a bye.
