Joe Root was batting on six runs from 15 balls when, on the second ball of the 11th over of England’s second innings, Akash Deep breached his defence and shattered his stumps. After taking Root’s wicket in the third session of the fourth day’s play of the second India-England Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Akash came up with a charged-up celebration, and the clip of it is now going viral on the internet.

England had high hopes from Root on Saturday, but the right-handed batter from Yorkshire, who is England’s all-time leading run getter in the five-day format of the game, failed to make any significant contribution with the bat.

He was the third English batter to get out on Saturday. Before taking Root’s wicket, Akash Deep clean bowled Ben Duckett. Duckett scored 25 runs from 15 balls with the help of five overs.

Earlier, in England’s second innings, Mohammed Siraj removed Zak Crawley for a seven-ball duck. The England opener was caught by substitute fielder Sai Sudharsan on the fourth ball of the second over.

England need 608 to win

India declared their second innings at 427 for 6 on Saturday to set a target of 608 runs for England to chase down in the fourth innings and win the match.

England finished the fourth day’s play at 72 for 3 in 16 overs, and the Poms still need 536 more runs to win.

The hosts will once again expect the world No. 2 Test batter, Harry Brook, to step up and play a big knock to help the English team draw the Test at least.

In the first innings of the first Test, Brook scored 99 runs, and in the first innings of the Edgbaston Test, he scored 158 runs. Brook added 303 runs for the sixth wicket with Jamie Smith (184*) on Friday (July 4) to help England post a total of 407 runs in the first innings.

At the close of the fourth day’s play, after coming out to bat at No. 5, Brook remained unbeaten on 15 runs from 15 balls, and Ollie Pope is batting on 24 runs from 44 balls.
