Angel Reese has rebounded her way into WNBA history.

Reese set the WNBA record when she recorded 26 rebounds in the Atlanta Dream’s 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday at Crypto.com Arena, the most rebounds in a single game in league history. Reese struggled from the field, shooting 4 of 14, but was able to get a lot of her own misses, as she had eight offensive rebounds.

“Last time I was here, I didn’t miss any shots. Tonight I couldn’t hit (anything) so I knew I was going be able to get them on the rebounding side,” Reese told the postgame show. “I just want to be there for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win.”

The Dream star broke Chamique Holdsclaw’s record of 24 rebounds, set on May 23, 2003 for Washington.

Not only did Reese set the single-game rebounding record, but she also set the record for most total rebounds in a season in WNBA history at 458. Reese surpassed A’Ja Wilson’s record of 451, which she set in 2024.

Reese scored a basket with 13.9 seconds left to reach 11 points, recording her WNBA-leading 27th double-double of the season. In 38 minutes, Reese had 11 points, 26 rebounds and three assists. Reese’s tenacity on the boards have left her teammates impressed.

“That’s a talent,” Dream guard Allisha Gray said. “I’m just in awe watching her rebound.”

A three-time WNBA All-Star, Reese set a WNBA rookie record with 13.1 rebounds per game and the all-time league record with 15 straight double-doubles while with Chicago in 2024. She led the league in rebounding in each of her first two seasons and is leading again this season at 12.0 per game.
