An Australian woman has called out her former real estate agent after her partner received an unexpected and unusual email from them.
Although both she and her partner were listed on their lease, the agent sent the email addressed solely to him,
The email read: ‘I’ve addressed this email only to you because I heard you and [your partner] were no longer together. I didn’t want to send you a lease renewal if your situation has changed.’
The woman quickly called out the agent for overstepping boundaries.
‘We’re both pretty baffled why they would be commenting on our relationship, pretty inappropriate and unprofessional,’ she wrote.
The couple’s relationship is still very much intact, leaving them wondering where the agent got the incorrect rumour.
Now that they have moved out and have received their bond back, the woman shared the email publicly on the social media site Reddit.
‘They were pretty terrible to deal with, unfortunately, and this prying comment was a further red flag,’ she said.

Reddit users were just as shocked by the email, which many said was a breach of personal privacy.
‘Maybe one of your neighbours is a spy for the landlord or real estate agent,’ one said.
‘Are they stalking your social media or something? How would they even know anything about your relationship,’ a second asked.
‘Not only is it super weird and unprofessional to comment on your personal relationship, but it also feels sketchy to go behind the back of one of your tenants to ask the other one what they want to do with the lease that has both names on it,’ a third said.
‘You should be informed of what’s happening and allowed to have a say.’
Others took the agent’s side, stating that they had been courteous of the situation despite the information not being correct.
‘They’ve heard, rightly or wrongly, that you two have split and are being proactive in communicating with you, in case your finances have been impacted enough as to cause you to not be able to stay,’ one said.
‘They are being proactive and helping you while helping themselves. Set the record straight and move forward,’ another echoed.
