Cowboys’ Dak Prescott still giving Jerry Jones Super Bowl fever: ‘Gives us our best chance’
Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones has a little more pep in his step.
As it was written earlier this week, Jones told reporters there was “nothing more dangerous than an old man with money” following the Cowboys’ win over the Washington Commanders. On Tuesday, through two weeks of the 2026 season, he appeared to have Super Bowl fever already.

It’s likely that the billionaire NFL team owner is always dreaming of getting back to the glory days of the 1990s. I mean, aren’t we all? But it has meant more to Jones to get the Cowboys back on top as the team hasn’t even appeared in an NFC Championship Game since 1995.
Dak Prescott’s four touchdown passes against the Commanders and notching his name as the franchise leader in passing touchdowns has Jones energized.
“I think he’s the poster child of any players I’ve been around of what you can do self-improve. He’s a product of his own work ethic,” Jones said of Prescott on Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan. “He’s a product of his focus on getting better at every detail of his game. I’m happy to say that he’s a better quarterback today than he’s ever been. And he’s playing a position that, even though you might have a little diminished physical skill, it’s a position where if you approach it the way he’s approached his career, you will be a better player.

“I’m glad we’ve got him. His record indicates the best at an overall view. … How he got where he is, is to me a noteworthy leg on his chair of being the best. And he can be the best out there as far as I’m concerned. … He’s playing at an extremely high level that gives us our best chance (to win a Super Bowl). We still have the opportunity to get him championships.”
Prescott’s health will be imperative moving forward.
The 11-year veteran only played eight games in 2024 and five games in 2020. He made it through 12 games in 2022.

But coming off a career-high 404 completions and a fourth Pro Bowl appearance in 2025, Prescott has shown up and showed out so far in 2026. The Week 1 loss against the New York Giants appeared to be firmly in the rearview mirror.
