WWE RAW is all set for its historic debut on Netflix. The weekly show is slated to premiere on the OTT platform on January 6. Fans expect to witness some action-packed storylines in this new era of wrestling entertainment.
Amid all the speculations about the event, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has announced his return to the squared circle. In a recent Instagram post, the 52-year-old confirmed that he would appear on the Netflix premiere of WWE RAW. The Rock revealed nothing about his in-ring assignment but mentioned that he wanted to dedicate the comeback to his family.
“I’ll come back home to WWE tomorrow night as we make history on Netflix and begin a new and exciting era. Tomorrow night is dedicated to my grandfather, the High Chief Peter Maivia; my grandmother, Lia Maivia; my dad, Rocky “Soulman” Johnson and my ancestors who have ALL paved the way,” Dwayne Johson shared on Instagram.
The Rock has been sidelined since featuring at the 2023 Bad Blood. He made a surprise entry at the end of the Premium Live Event and stared down Cody Rhodes who joined Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso to face the Solo Sikoa-led Bloodline. The Rock may continue his rivalry with the Undisputed WWE Champion, in the days leading up to WrestleMania 41.
The first Netflix episode of RAW will be headlined by a Tribal Combat match between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. After The Rock confirmed his participation at the event, many fans predicted that he would engage in the Bloodline saga.
A report by Xero News, however, claimed that “The Great One” would first settle his unfinished business with Rhodes before shifting his focus to the other storylines. “He’s not due back for that match, he’s coming for Cody in a promo,” the outlet reported.
The Rock and Roman Reigns defeated the pair of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins at the main event of WrestleMania 40. As a member of the TKO Board of Directors, “The Final Boss” received 96,558 shares of the company which was estimated to be worth $9.41 million. He was also presented with the People’s Champion title by the widow of the late Muhammad Ali at the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
